Lead-acid VS Lithium Battery: Which is Best For Electric Forklift?

With the growth of the forklift industry exceeding expectations, various products and domestic and foreign markets have achieved excellent performance. Among them, the proportion of electric forklifts has steadily increased. At the same time, facing the increasingly severe energy situation and environmental pressure, as well as the opportunities brought by the development of new energy vehicles and the maturing of lithium battery technology, lithium battery forklifts are ushering in a good market opportunity. So what is the difference between electric forklift lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries? Which is better? Features are as follows:

Compared with large batteries such as lead-acid and nickel-cadmium, lithium-ion batteries do not contain elements that pollute the environment such as cadmium, lead, and mercury, and are pollution-free. When charging, it will not produce "hydrogen evolution" similar to lead-acid batteries, will not corrode wire terminals and battery boxes, and is environmentally friendly and reliable. The lithium iron phosphate battery has a life span of 5 to 10 years, no memory effect, and no need for frequent replacement;

2. The charging and discharging are in the same port, and the same Anderson plug solves the major safety problem that the forklift can be started during charging caused by the charging and discharging method;

3. The lithium-ion battery pack has an intelligent lithium battery management and protection circuit-BMS, which can effectively cut off the main circuit for faults such as low battery power, short circuit, overcharge, and high temperature, and can perform sound (buzzer) light. (display) alarm, traditional lead-acid batteries do not have the above functions;

4. Triple security protection. We use intelligent monitoring and protection devices between the batteries, the internal total output of the battery, and the total bus output, which can monitor in real time and cut off protection under special conditions of the battery.

5. Lithium-ion batteries can be used as one of many materials and equipment, and integrated into the vast Internet of Things system, timely inform whether the battery needs maintenance or replacement, and automatically make statistical summary of the time of entering the factory, the number of charging and discharging, etc. ;

6. For special industries, such as airports, large warehousing and logistics centers, etc., the lithium-ion battery can be charged in the "fast charging mode", that is, within 1 to 2 hours of the lunch break, the battery is fully charged to maintain the Yufeng forklift. 7. Maintenance-free, can be automatically charged. After the lithium-ion battery is self-packed, there is no need to carry out any special water injection, regular discharge, etc. Its unique constant active active balance technology greatly reduces the workload of on-site personnel and saves huge labor costs;

8. The lithium-ion battery is only 1/4 of the weight of the lead-acid battery of the same capacity, and the volume is only 1/3 of the lead-acid battery of the same capacity. As a result, the mileage that the vehicle can run under the same power is increased by more than 20%

9. The charging efficiency of lithium-ion batteries is as high as 97% (the efficiency of lead-acid batteries is only 80%), and there is no memory. Taking a 500AH battery pack as an example, it can save more than 1,000 yuan in charging costs per year compared to lead-acid batteries.

However, until now, lead-acid batteries are still the first choice in the intralogistics industry due to their low procurement costs. However, the continuous improvement of lithium-ion batteries and the associated reduction in production costs are causing industry professionals to rethink. More and more customers are relying on forklifts equipped with this advanced technology for their intralogistics tasks.
